So a little fun fact time. There are actually different 4 kinds of vegans.
1. Vegans: Pretty much do not eat anything that comes from something with a face such as meats of any kind, dairy products, eggs, processed foods containing animal-derived ingredients such as gelatin.
2. Vegetarians: does not eat meat of any kind, but do eat eggs and dairy product.
3. Flexitarians: eat a mostly vegetarian diet, but occasionally eat meat.
4. Pescetarians: abstain from eating all meat with the exception of fish.
When people want to become vegan or vegetarian they normally start with pescetarianism and work their way up. Vegetarians in fact do not eat any fish at all.

Health
Ever wondered how it is possible that a vegetarian's meal plan is healthier than a carnivore's meal plan? There's actually quite a justifiable reason on why vegetarian's are put under this stereotype that states it is unhealthy. Vegetarianism is very healthy but those who eat meat were once more healthier, then vegetarianism was the equivalent of health from those who eat meat, and now it is just a healthier meal plan. It is a healthy meal plan because "“Vegetarians have lower blood pressure, lower cholesterol levels and tend to be a little bit thinner, so vegetarians are automatically going to be at lower risk of certain chronic diseases,”" This health status changed with time because the meal plan was improved and also because animal meat is now chemically enhanced. This article gives information on why it is the most healthiest meal plan. This article states the many health issues that vegetarian's are able to avoid due to their meal plan. It also states the nutrients that vegetarian's need to pay closer attention to. This article is great to read about vegetarianism not only because it states that being a vegetarian is a healthier approach but because this article is written in the point of view of a person who ate meat and wanted to try the vegetarian meal plan. This article also mentions the slight unhealthy part of being a vegetarian such as not having enough nutrients or paying attention to the nutrients your body needs that solely comes from animals.

Lisa Simpson is well known as an
environmentalist in the television series, The Simpsons. This image of Lisa is
from season seven, "Lisa the Vegetarian". You can see that Lisa is
about to cut her food, Lamb chops, then visualizes a baby Lamb. Lisa is now
knowledgeable of an animals' life. Lisa becomes a vegetarian due to a love of
animals and a want to save them, not to hurt and consume them. This is one of
the main reasons why vegetarians become vegetarians. We don't like the fact
that an animal was murdered just for our satisfaction when we can eat
substitutes such as tofu. Meat is not a key source of protein, we can get it
anywhere else. The way I see it is, I don’t go home to eat my cat so why would I
go somewhere else and eat someone’s farm animal?

Hypothesis
I chose to blog about vegetarianism not only because I
myself am a vegetarian but because I feel we are strongly misunderstood. Vegetarians are often put into stereotypes such as, tree-huggers, it's an
excuse to try and be thin, we only eat salads, and we'd be too skinny, we don’t
get enough protein, we’re all hippies etc. . . . These are all wrong
accusations. I personally do not even understand the tree-hugger part. Anyway,
our main focus is on animals, don't get me wrong, we care a lot about our
environment but our main concern is animals and their wellbeing. Being a vegetarian
has nothing to do with being thin, you'd be surprised on how many vegetarian
athletes and bodybuilders there are. Because we do not eat meat, we need to
make sure we get enough protein and vitamins in other ways such as tofu,
peanuts…there are plenty of substitutes and being a vegetarian is actually a
lot healthier. Being a vegetarian is much more than what we eat, but how we
live our lives. I hope that with the help of this blog, I can spread knowledge
of what it actually means to be a vegetarian such as health, the lifestyle, and
the acknowledgment of an animals’ life. If you know me personally, then you know that I never brag about being a vegetarian nor do I ever bring it up. My purpose is not to convert anyone at
all, but to get people to understand from a vegetarian's point of view.
Vegetarianism in a Nutshell.
Being a vegetarian is becoming more common now a days, sometimes the vegetarian does not really know or understand the true meaning of being a vegetarian, and sometimes people put vegetarians into false stereotypes stating that we are just trying to lose weight. Being a vegetarian is a lifestyle as well as a diet. When a vegetarian mentions the lifestyle part, people often get confused because often times everyone assumes it is just a diet where you do not eat meat. Well how can vegetarians refuse to eat an animal in respect for its life yet allow it to be murdered for house products such as soap, that's quite hypocritical, this is when being a vegetarian becomes a lifestyle. This website is a vegetarian resource group. This website gives information on what it means to be a vegetarian and why someone might choose this lifestyle. It provides information about health, nutrition, environment, and ethics revolving around vegetarianism. This website also provides resources that are helpful for vegetarians that are just beginning and how to succeed with this lifestyle. This website is so supportive of student vegetarians that it gives two types scholarships, a video scholarship of $500 award along with two $250 rewards, and an essay scholarship of two $5,000 rewards. This website differs from all other vegetarian websites because it does not criticize you for not being a vegetarian and it does not try to convert you by showing you obscene images of animals like most vegetarian websites do.
